MAKEUP
How do stars keep their
make up looking flawless all night long? A little secret called layering!
Follow these easy steps for a radiant
glow on Prom Night.
First, start with your face make-up application,
to create a base for all of your make-up. Smooth on a foundation that matches
your skin tone exactly using a wet sponge to
ensure an even application. Next, set the foundation by applying your face
powder that also matches your skin tone. Then your concealer should be applied.
Once you’re done,
try using a slightly lighter powder under the eyes to help set your concealer
and to brighten up under the eye. With a large powder brush, blend to even out
all the colors applied.
Your blush should go last. Think about using a
mineral blush if you’re interested in an added shimmer.
Your eye make-up should be applied next. The
layering effect should be used for your eyes as well. Starting with an eye base,
or your foundation, apply it to your eyelids. A neutral color should go next,
covering the entire lid and a bit over the crease. These neutrals should have a
bit of sparkle and are usually gold, brown and heather gray. Next select a
“pop”color. That can be the color of your dress, your eyes or simply a color you
like. Whichever color you select, make sure it has a lot of contrast to the
neutral color you started with. Apply this color outside of the eyelid
towards the center of the eye. If you like eyeliner, use a pencil to set the
base. Then use a dark eye shadow and apply with an eyeliner brush. This
really helps soften and smudge the liner to achieve a smoky, evening look.
Lipstick can be layered as well. A lip base is
the best way to start. If you don’t have a lip base then use a lip liner to line
your lips and then fill in the whole lip. Then put on your favorite gloss or
lipstick for a polished look.
Layering is the most popular form of makeup application because it keeps your
make-up in place and fresh looking all night long. You’ll find when using this
form of application, you’ll spend less time on touch ups! For more tips & tricks
